Tongariro River Flow: 26.4m3/sec Weather: Sunny ๐ŸŒž

The weather has been nothing short of glorious in Turangi and it has been great to catch up with folks near and far who enjoy getting amongst the early winter fishing on offer.

Yesterday called for a relaxed session at the Delta sipping on coffee and entertaining the curious ducks hanging around for a scone crumb๐Ÿ˜….

We used olive wooly buggers, globug heave n leaves, and white booby flies but the globug was the definite winner for the day.ย The RIO Premier Outbound Short I/S5/S7 were our chosen lines (6wt and 7wt). While the fishing was slow, we repositioned the vessel several times in order to fish the rip effectively which proved to be helpful in getting that extra bite. All in all, it was a stunning day to be out there enjoying friendship in the sunshine.

Siblings Bridget and Mike went out for a weekend fish over the hill and caught some nice fish via nymph, utilising the NZ Strike Indicator system as the varying depths required frequent indicator adjustments keeping them dialed into each take.
