Tongariro River Flow: 30.9m3/sec
Weather: partially sunny ⛅ 8
It's a good day to be in Turangi and the folks who have come by the shop to grab a few bits and pieces in preparation for the weekend can vouch for that!
The Fire Emergency New Zealand National Trout Fishing Competition is on, and the crew are filling the shop as we speak, so expect to see a few more anglers about this weekend!
Looking at the forecast there appears to be some rain coming but no need to worry! We aren't expecting a flood 😀
The usual suspects are still working well for us and customers, the Category 3 Gummer's Carpet Caddis in black or pink bead in all sizes, Hare and Copper variants, olive Wooly Buggers and of course the Glo-bug. The Tongariro and surrounding waterways are now lower and clearer than they have been since the floods, so keep in mind the fishing will be more technical and we are happy to help you all.
Neil's back in the shop after a few days off, he did well wetlining using olive wooly buggers and caught a mix of fresh and slightly coloured rainbows.
There are limited spots left for Chappie Chapmans fly school if anyone is looking to get an introduction into the sport! There are spots left on the Sept 24-25th course and the Nov 12-13th course so give him a call on 027 439 3490 to book your spot.
