it was a blue-sky morning that has led to an overcast end to the week here in Turangi. Thankfully the strong winds have dissipated........ for now, at least 😅. The Tongariro is still low and still clear currently flowing at 26.0m3/sec. A dry fly with a size 14 or 16 nymph suspended below has been the preferred method for many especially with the odd fish willing to eat the dry fly in amongst the prolific mayfly hatches we have had of late.Â
Lonny called in to the shop yesterday and got the scoop from Theresa on how to fish the Tongariro delta. He came back in store today to tell us he never quite made it there, as he decided to go for a harl on his way out and got interrupted by a brace of lovely brown trout, the biggest of which being just under the 8lb mark! Both of Lonny's fish were taken on the Tassie Devil in Smashing Pumpkin colour, not only is it a great lure colour for Lake Taupo but it is named after a great band as well 🤘🤘Â
The weather forecast suggests there will be a bit of rain around over the weekend. as always, we will be keeping you all updated with river flows and fishing conditions so let's wait and see what happens.Â
