Tongariro River Flow: 27.1m3/sec

Weather: Mostly Cloudy, periods of rain

After hearing about all the dry/dropper action the crew had yesterday, Claudio and I hit the trail on our bikes with fishing gear in our packs. Claudio fished the faster run above me skating wee wets as the mayflies and caddis were in flight amongst the birdlife turning them into a meal. I of course had to rest the spey rod and have a turn on Claudio's rod as he had hooked into a couple of feisty trout.
Earlier in the day Sam and Claudio fished together both on the dry/dropper rig and each pulled fish in varying condition, using Carty's Colobriscus which we have in store.
With the longer days on the river, one would be concerned about UV exposure and while sunblock is an option good clothing coverage is considered superior as sunblock tends to come off with sweat/water. Sporting Life - Turangi has a great range of apparel to keep you covered this summer, with buffs, shirts, hats and gloves.

Sporting Caddis available in store

Sam sent in this photo of a stunning fish caught yesterday

Fishing on the Tauranga-Taupo River is still hot for some. Karma sent through a message this morning saying that the Gummer's Carpet Caddis in pink is still working well for her.
