Tongariro River Flow: 30.5m3/sec

Weather: Warm and sunny 🌞

The Tongariro continues to produce plenty of fish with a mixture of fresh and darker fish throughout the system, with some anglers starting to be successful with dry flies. Many anglers will start looking further afield to backcountry rivers with the opening of the backcountry season tomorrow, meaning a less crowded river here!

After a winter of chasing rainbows, I am very excited to get back into some sight fishing and chasing brownies! Don't underestimate how great the Tongariro and lake fishing will be over the coming months. Stream mouth and lake edge fishing will soon be firing with fish feeding heavily on smelt as well as some great hatches and evening rises on the Tongariro as things warm up!

We have recently done a big order for all things fly tying so keep an eye out for that to come through!
