November 8th 2024

This weekend the river is running at a low and clear @27.7 CU and dropping,

Temps are a nice warm climb up 19 deg during the day, water temps at 9.25 deg a really nice zone for invertebrate activity and it's showing thorough out the day especially on these soft balmy afternoons.

Good numbers of returning fish now throughout the system putting on condition during these next few months.

In the shop we have been fishing with 16# and14# naturals under a small indicator and now small stimulator dry flies with a nymph under it.

I have been having fun fishing a small switch rod and light Spey line with a team of wets through the riffles it's been surprising how many fish have moved up into the shallower areas.

Had my first Brown of the season off the lake edge smelting this week, small bursts of activity here and there but probably need a week or two of settled wind and warmth to get things really going.

The lakes are really starting to get going with some well conditioned fatter fish showing up, more willing to chase flies now and certainly more actively feeding throughout the day. Tina had this cracker rainbow last week on a small 12# nymph on an intermediate line.

Looking like a great weekend ahead

Pop in and say hello we'd love to see you.

NOTE :

Women on the fly are having an event on the river this weekend, best of luck to everyone involved
