Tongariro Flow: 26.3 m3/sec
Weather: Today is a reasonably clear day with minimal cloud cover and light winds, pretty decent fishing conditions.
There have been reports of plenty of browns in the river if you know where to find them and have a keen eye. During the day these fish can be difficult to tempt but often turning to a larger stonefly or dobsonfly imitation with some meat to it gets the eat. To find these fish a motivated effort is often required as these fish tend to congregate in the hard-to-reach places on the 'wrong' side of the river.
As winter draws closer and excitement builds many of the team have taken to fly tying to restock supplies. Beaded nymphs are a staple here with hare and coppers of varying bead colours and sizes being great for the majority of fishing situations. Here at Sporting Life, we have a huge range of all beads, hooks and fly tying equipment you may need to get you tying and fill your fly boxes!
