Since yesterday the flow of the Tongariro has been elevated up to around 60 cumecs because of work being done at Poutu*, this has caused a fair bit of colour in the water too. This higher flow is meant to persist until Friday afternoon* so look to see some good fishing over the weekend when the flow returns to normal, the overcast forecast should help the fish come on the chew as well.
*From what I've heard*
Plenty of lake fishing reports have been coming in over the past few days with anglers seeming to have caught good numbers of fish. The fish have begun feeding on smelt with some lake specimens having been caught with stomachs full of them! With labour weekend nearly upon us we are well and truly into springtime and hope to see plenty of warmer weather over the coming weeks. This time of year can be great for jigging and trolling, so get your gear together and make the most of it!
Instore we have recently done a big restock of all things lake fishing including Tassie Devils, Toby's, Pat Swift jig rigs and all manner of rod combos to get you out on the water!
