Tongariro River Flow: 28.6m3/sec

Weather: Windy 🍃

The last couple of days have a seen a good number of fish making their way up the rivers while its very cold in the morning the early morning anglers seem to be having the best luck on the rivers at the moment both nymphing & swinging. It looks like Gensis has been playing around with the flow both early this morning and currently as the flow early this morning was 29.5m3/sec & lowered back down to 26.4m3/sec at 9am but has now gone back up to 28.6m3/sec so hopefully we see some fresh fish moving up the rivers.

We have also restocked our Pat Swift Flies! We have their cone headed buggers back instore great for wet lining and swinging! So, check out our great selection of Pat Swift buggers here!

Over the last couple of weeks, I have been fishing with fairly natural flies in all rivers in the area & seem to be catching a fair number of fish. The one thing I have changed about my usual set up is I have been fishing a lot lighter with leader & tippet because the rivers have been so low and clear.

Looking to the end of this week looks like we could be in for some nice rain! So, fingers crossed the forecast is right. I suggest fishing with bright egg patterns and Slushy Flies when the water is colored after some rain or nymphs with a bright coloured bead. Check out our slushy material here! & check out our large range of egg flies Here!
