Tongariro River Flow: 28.4m3/sec

Weather: Party Sunny ⛅

It's another day in paradise with Tim McCarthy and I holding the fort! Hopefully Tarn and Neil are out there scouting the waterways in search of winter chrome.

During my days off I gave the Delta another crack and found it to be a little slow for us compared to the days prior, but it was still an enjoyable way to catch up with a good friend. The white booby flies tied by Tim worked a treat once again on the Outbound Short I/S5/S7 line with a figure 8 retrieve.

Yesterday was quite the party on the Tongariro! Dyl aka Troutfixnz and I finally managed get out for a fish together, which took about three years in the making 😂 and later joined by Rosie and Andrew. It was tough going where we fished, with the low crystal-clear river but the olive wooly bugger worked for me in the fast water while the small home-tied nymphs from Dyl did the trick for him.

We are looking forward to some rain which should see more fish in the Tongariro as it's looking a bit scarce in places going by yesterday's outing and what customers are reporting. The Tauranga-Taupo is fishing well for those doing the early morning pilgrimage, as we have seen some great photos of fish caught there.

We have a great collection of floating and sinking lines instore and online, so have a browse and treat yourself!
