Tongariro River Flow: 39.3m3/sec

Weather: Overcast with patchy rain, high of 12 degrees

Throughout the last week we have experienced a good amount of rain here in Turangi with the Tongariro spiking up to 150 cumecs at one point. The river is now sitting at a nice 39.3m3/sec so expect some great fishing over the next few days as it continues to drop. Reports are showing that there are still large numbers of fresh fish running through the river, with plenty of spawny fish to keep you entertained as well.

Be on the lookout for rising fish on the warmer evenings as more and more bugs begin to hatch in good numbers, so don't leave your dry flies at home! Swinging wee wets is also a deadly tactic for catching rising fish, some of my favourite flies for this is a Partridge and Hare or a March Brown!
